Impromptu is a group exhibition showcasing works by five Iranian born Toronto based artists. The projects presented explore related subjects through a diverse range of media including painting, photography, video, and installation. Displayed together these works underline similar concerns stemming from the personal. Using themes such as the subconscious, memory, time and atemporality these artists make engaging works that provide the viewer with an opportunity to be exposed to feelings of absence, presence, anxiety and their relation to psychological and architectural spaces. Impromptu brings together the works of artists that borrow from a diasporic vocabulary without limiting the conversation to displaced bodies.
